Topic of the Video: Tijuego
*Edited Version
*Unedited Version
Time Spent: I spent several days working on this project.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to inform students on the significance of the relationship between Tijuana and San Diego.
Audience: The audience of this video are the students of Bonita Vista High School.
Reflection: I believe that I did a good job in explaining the significance of both San Diego and Tijuana, and I also think the scenery that was captured on video was very good. However, there were issues with the constant sound of the wind, and I think it would be beneficial to show more of the scenery to the audience. Overall, however, I spent a lot of time and effort on this assignment and consider it my best one to date.

On October 24, 2015, reporter Omar Moreno stood atop one of the most prominent buildings in Downtown San Diego that overlooks the Bay Area. He gave a brief overview of some of the famous landmarks that surround the general area, adding that people should feel thankful to live in this beautiful region.
When introducing the scenery, Omar Moreno began his narration as follows: "Hey Barons, this is Omar Moreno and I'm here reporting from one of the high rise buildings in downtown San Diego, on a beautiful cloudy day. As you can see this is a beautiful view of the downtown area where we can observe a swath of the city, including the bay."
Omar Moreno introduced some significant landmarks throughout the narration: "To my right, we can see some of the courts, Horton Plaza, the popular Gas Lamp quarter, and the recently built Main Library among other landmarks.Behind me, we can observe the Coronado Island with the iconic and historic Coronado Hotel, and the Coronado Bridge, and of course we can not forget the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Hey, did young know that from here we can even see our neighbor city of Tijuana, Mexico?"
Finally to conclude the video, Omar Moreno showcased some of the bay area that is utilized by the military: "Over here we can see some of the military installations of the navy, which has a very large presence in this area. Quite a stunning view wouldn't you say? I think we should feel privileged to live in the San Diego area."

Purpose: The purpose of this video is to inform others of significant landmarks located around the San Diego Bay Area.
Audience: The audience of this video are the students of Bonita Vista High.
Reflection: This video has a variety of shots of the San Diego Bay Area that helps the viewers visualize where historical and distinguished landmarks are located throughout the San Diego Bay Area. *Note: This past Sunday ( 10/18/15) my parents and I went to SDSU. We were also there on Saturday the tenth of October. When I was there on Saturday, I decided to take photos of the college in an effort to capture the overall feel of the institution. However, I did not think that my first nine pictures were enough to fully capture the atmosphere of the university. As such, I waited until the following Sunday when we returned once again to SDSU to take some more photos. These two photo slideshows are divided into those two days.

Peer Counseling Support Groups Interview

Support Groups Await With Open Arms To All
Picture and video were taken by America Sandoval
Special thanks to Ms. Lucero for participating in the interview.
On September 21, 2015 school counselor Ms. Lucero met with interviewer Omar Moreno from the Bonita Vista Bulletin to discuss the role of support groups in the school. Ms. Lucero expressed a clear encouragement for the participation of troubled youth in support groups.
When asked what support groups are Ms. Lucero answered: "When asked what the support groups were all about "Support groups, well, first off, in 9th grade our peer counselors go to the 9th grade classes and kind of just explain what's going on. How these run and see if there is any volunteer that are looking to join. We compile a list, see what groups we have and even as sophomores, juniors, and seniors, people can join into these groups. We meet once a week to talk about specific topics."
Ms. Lucero provided the following response when asked what kind of people are support groups open to:"These groups are open to everybody. Again, we kind of target the 9th graders because it's a big transition year, but they're open up to everyone. Sometimes we get referrals from teachers and counselors, but everyone is welcome."
As a counselor, Ms. Lucero strongly expresses that those with problems should join a support group, "I think support groups are there for people to get support with issues and even without. I think that being in a room with people with common issues really helps. It just kind of brightens your day."

Time Spent: I spent about 25 minutes gathering a script, 20 minutes filming this video, and about 16 minutes editing the video. In total, I spent about one hour and one minute on this assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to give the audience a bit of background history on the Southwestern College Football Stadium.
Audience: The audience of this video is intended to be the following: the students and potentially, the teachers of Bonita Vista High.
Reflection: From my own point of view, this video could have had a better view of the stadium but unfortunately, further entrance of the stadium was blocked off. However, I did the best with what I had and provided the audience with the best view of the stadium that I could obtain. The lighting could have been a bit better but it was the best I could obtain and thus I had to work with it. Nonetheless, my voice is projected clearly and my point is still transmitted to the audience.
Peer Review: I think this video deserves an A because it gives a great view of the SWC stadium and the information is great. - America Sandoval

Time Spent: I spent 20 minutes making a script, 26 minutes filming, and 16 minutes to edit the video. In total I spent an hour and two minutes on this assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to inform the students of Bonita Vista High of some background history of the Union Station in Downtown San Diego.
Audience: The audience in this video are the following viewers: the students (and possibly the teachers) of Bonita Vista High who have gone to the Downtown San Diego Pier or who don't have a general idea of this feature of Downtown San Diego.
Reflection: In my own opinion, this video has a great view of Union Station and really conveys a sense of "societal progress" to the audience. I do admit that my voice could have been a bit louder but overall, I believe that the execution of the video was well done.
Peer Review: I think Omar deserves an A because the information is very interesting and the location is great. - America Sandoval

Time Spent: I spent 20 minutes making a script for this video, 28 minutes filming, and 15 minutes editing. In total, I spent one hour and three minutes on this assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to provide a little bit of background history of the Montage Hotel at Laguna Beach to those who are unfamiliar with the hotel.
Audience: The audience of this video are the students who do not have an in depth understanding of the Montage Hotel.
Reflection: I admit that the video quality is not the best and the lighting could be improved. However, I do believe that my voice projection is satisfactory and the view of the hotel and the beach gives the video a grand finish. I was only able to go to the Montage Hotel during the evening due to a setback to a family visit.
Peer Review: I think this video deserves an A because of the take of the panorama while the sun is starting to hide, the song theme is good too. - America Sandoval

Purpose: The purpose of this video is to observe the important historical events that took place centuries or decades ago on this day. This video is meant to be educational to others as it informs people of significant historical events.
Audience: The audience of this video is meant to be the students and teachers of Bonita Vista High because I believe that anyone can find this video either informative or entertaining in terms of making people aware of significant events that have occurred throughout our past.
Reflection: I approve of the background that is captured by this video and my voice projection is satisfying once again. Also there were minimal amounts of background/distracting noise in this video, compared to other videos. However, I do wish the video could have taken less time to film; I had to go through about nine takes to finally get the desired product which was tiresome and a chore.

In total, I spent one hour and four minutes working on this assignment.

I also believe that the volume projection was satisfactory because although there was plenty of background noise, my words are clearly heard on camera. On an improvement note, I personally feel that the camera should have been allowed more time to linger a bit longer on sign that expresses the overall spirit of El Cajon.

Remembering 9/11
It was a wonderful sunny morning in 2001, and just another day at work in the already famous World Trade Center twin towers in New York; buildings so big that they had their own zip code. That September 11 would make the buildings even more famous, albeit in a tragic manner, when that glorious sun and America’s heart would become covered in a dark cloud of dust, debris; our ground zero of fear and anger. That early morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001 must have started as usual for those going about their business, both inside and outside the giant complex; little did everyone know that four planes have already been hijacked, with a couple of them veering towards the buildings. The buildings were hit respectively at 8:46 a.m., north tower by American Airlines flight 11, and 9:03 a.m., south tower by each by planes operated by United Airlines flight 175; planes piloted by people whose hate for America knew no bounds. Scenes of panic, solidarity, and heroism rapidly succeeded one another; anguish and desperation, combined with bravery and courage, all for the world to see on live television. This dastardly suicide attack that left close to 3,000 deaths in its wake did not intimidate our country, but rather made it stronger, for instead of backing down, America fought back united, and with almost unanimous support from the international community. Fourteen years later, new buildings and memorials have replaced that empty ground; we remember that tragedy and those who gave their lives on that day in service to their country.
Topic of Video: Qualcomm Stadium Commentary
*Edited Version
*Unedited Version
Time Spent: It took about 20 minutes to come up with a script with this video and about 35 minutes to film it (including errors committed) due to the various noises around the stadium that proved to be distracting. Finally, it took 18 minutes to fully edit this video. In short, it took one hour thirteen minutes to complete this assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to give students an insight into the variety of events and teams that Qualcomm Stadium has been host to throughout the years. It also informs those who are unaware of the fact that the Chargers might be leaving San Diego.
Audience: The intended audience of this video are the students who are not that well informed or have not been to Qualcomm Stadium. This video gives them a glimpse at the stadium itself and its function.
Reflection: In my own opinion, this video has a very nice panoramic view of Qualcomm Stadium and has an appropriate amount of footage in terms of people milling about, outside the stadium. I don't think that there were any other vantage points around the stadium that would have given me a better shot of the overall scenery. However, I do believe that this video could be improved in the department of noisy content in the background. This background traffic noise can either detract or add to the experience of this video depending on whether or not the audience appreciates the activity of cars in the background and whether or not they desire an inactive environment in the background.

*Unedited Version
Time Spent: I spent 19 minutes coming up with a script, 32 minutes trying to film the video, and about 25 minutes editing the final video product. In total, I spent hour and sixteen minutes on this assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this video is to inform the audience of a little highlight of the city of Tijuana by showcasing the location of a park that represents some of the history of this city to the south. This video is part of the segment "Tijuego" as discussed with Mr. Lim, which is intended to blend cultural elements from San Diego and Tijuana; this video serves as a stepping stone to achieving this goal.
Audience: My audience includes students and teachers who have possibly gone to the Mexican city of Tijuana. Some may know the significance of this park and as such the video serves as a reminder of "Parque Fundadores". However, others may not be familiar with this park which makes this video an informative report of "Parque Fundadores". Other audience members may include those that have never been to Tijuana in the first place.
Reflection: I believe that this video has a good shot of the park's overall landscape and has an appropriate ending shot with the camera shifting towards the Agua Caliente tower at the center of the park. In my opinion I could have improved on the volume projection of my voice and I could have gone more in depth in terms of discussing more of the park's history.

Special thanks to Librarian Jackie Macias for agreeing to be interviewed.
On September 4, 2015 Omar Moreno interviewed librarian Jackie Macias at the Chula Vista Public Library Civic Center Branch. In this interview, the audience is informed of possible community service opportunities available at the Chula Vista Public Library. This interview also provides an insight into what inspired librarian Jackie Macias into working for this public institution. Hopefully, some students will take advantage of this community service opportunity and become a volunteer at the Chula Vista Public Library.
In terms of community service opportunities, Jackie Macias stated: “If you are at least 15 ½ years of age, what you do is you go online to our website at Chula Vista Library.com, and you click on the link where it says ‘support’; at that point you put in all your information, and then within two to three weeks our volunteer coordinator will then contact you to discuss orientation, your schedule, and how many hours you are looking to complete here.”
When asked why she ended up dedicating herself to being a librarian, Jackie Macias expressed the following: “Well first of all I love books, I love reading, that’s my first love, but when I saw the different kinds of things that we can do for the public, I’ve worked in public libraries for about ten years now, and I do a lot of children services, so to see a child in love with literacy, and with music and songs, and things that we introduce them to, even adults when we help them with computers, or even refugees families, or immigrant families coming in for citizenship classes, we are always the first point of information for these people. Someone who has never been here before, they’ll be told ‘go to the library and ask, and they’ll help you’, it’s the first point of direction that we can give people, and to help assimilate to a new environment, that’s helping people and giving back to the community and that’s why I did it.”

On August 14, 2015, the Peer Counselors of Bonita Vista High and Omar Moreno met in the Counselor office, during third period, to conduct an interview that would serve to advertise the concept of 'Peer Mediation' to the rest of the school. The interest in some sort of advertisement to the school stemmed from the fact that 'Peer Mediation' services are generally not well known throughout the student populace. As such, the group wanted to spread awareness of these services to fellow students so that they may be inclined to come to 'Peer Mediation' if they have emotional/personal problems.
According to Carol Schroder, the PC Coordinator, the Peer Counseling Center "...is a safe place, where you can come to talk about any problems you may have, if you need advice, or just have questions in general. We are a really safe welcoming place and we got lots of love to give."
Alejandra Castro talked about support groups: "Support groups are starting thins semester, we have a bunch you can join. We have family groups, girl to woman, body image, sexual identity, positive thinking, teen relations, boy to man, and we have more to come that we are still planning for. Young guys should join, they're totally fun. There is a bunch of us that gather around, we have food sometimes and for you freshmen, we will be coming around to your classes and we are going to sign you up if you guys want to join. Upperclassmen are welcome to come. We also have a lot of seniors, juniors, and sophomores in our program."
