FINALS FALL 2016
1. Videos - 3 of your BEST videos (segments, not an entire BVBulletin) this semester ONLY, with a short paragraph reflecting of how's it's good, could be better, technical info (edited on Windows Movie Maker), tips so that next year's student can learn from your video. (If it's on this page already below, just move it up but leave a screenshot on it's original spot). One has to be your commercial for Wk. 17.
Title: A Touch of Poetry
This poetry video was entered into the experimental category in the Digital Media Showcase, San Diego County Fair, and BVHS 1st Annual Digital Media Showcase. The video was edited using Microsoft Movie Maker and although iMovie was not used for this project, I believe that maximum effort was exerted in this project. The retelling of poetry from Antonio Machado comes with great shots of scenery, a strong and clear narration, and good editing skills. It also sends an overall powerful message to the audience about determination and hope in life. Things that could be improved include the following: there could be more variety in the scenery and better transitions between cuts. As mentioned before, this video was edited on Windows Movie Maker where I used the narration option to record my voice. From this video, next year's students can learn that to keep the audience entertained, multiple shots must be included in videos with a variety of scenery. They should also learn that in order to make an experimental video, a person must be willing to go outside his/her comfort zone in order to produce something truly unique.
Title: Downtown Chula Vista Documentary
The Downtown Chula Vista Documentary is definitely one of my best journalism pieces. It includes constant changes in scenery, a well done verbal report on the different events that take place in Downtown Chula Vista, and a good use of transitions. The video could use a bit of improvement in the audio department due to some background noise and in the interaction between the narrator and the camera. This video was made using Windows Movie Maker which is why the graphics are displayed at the very end. I used different animations to transition from shot to shot. Students who will be in Digital Media the following year should take into account, from this video, is that they should try to include graphics in their videos whenever they give a report in order to maintain the attention of the audience.
Title: Apple Commercial
*Without Credits Version
*Unedited Version
This was my first commercial video that I completed this year. In terms of possible improvement, I do admit that the dialogue in this video could have been a little shorter in order to the short and concise for the audience. Also, I do think that the video could have had more variety in terms of having multiple cuts in different locations instead of just one. Other than that, I do think this video is satisfactory in overall quality. The commercial does have multiple cuts, a clever use of dialogue, a good location, and music that serves to accurately fit the tone of the commercial. The commercial was done using Windows Movie Maker and while my editing capabilities were limited because of this, I still used transition animations and music implementation to the best of my ability. One thing students, who will be here next semester, can learn from this video is that they might want to use humor when making a commercial or PSA in order to entertain the audience. Another thing students can learn is that even if you don't have access to iMovie, you can still do a good job of creating videos in Windows Movie Maker.

Chula Vista Public Library
Two years ago I applied to the Chula Vista Public Library in order to complete my community service requirement. I went to the library on the eve of my sophomore year with the intent of finding an institution that would provide me with an opportunity to at least do a few hours of community service. However, I was in luck and in no time I reached the thirty hour requirement I was supposed to reach but I still volunteer there every week. My duties at the library involve giving orientation to the patrons that need help with the different services provided. I've participated as a host in the annual event to promote reading among children and adults. I also had the opportunity to work in the program that helps prepare preschool age kids for kindergarten. That was a lot of fun! Another task I have is to help shelve books and to help people find specific books that they seek to check out. The simple task of shelving books might seem trivial but it helps keep the library running efficiently. I really like working at the library because it is a way to give back to my community.

Sweetwater Union Water Conservation Competition
REFLECTIONS
A little puddle made by the rain reflects an instant picture of nature. It is important for us humans to find ways in which we could take advantage of rain water as it is vital for the conservation of every single living creature on earth. Water indeed is life.

INVALUABLE TREASURE
At one point, in one way or another, we all are guilty of wasting water. I think it takes a coordinated effort to care for this invaluable treasure every time we use it. But where do we start? It can be as simple as parents teaching children at an early age the importance to do so.
